Unit 5: Forces in Equilibrium

In unit 5, we learned about frictional forces. These frictional forces are forces that oppose motion or impending motion. Friction often helps objects to keep from sliding. Objects that would have friction would be things like sand paper or a waxed surfboard. Things like ice cubes and slides have low friction. Frictional forces is a variable we use in our free body diagram because it is something that affects the acceleration of an object. If the object is on a high friction surface, then it well start slowing down because it is opposing on the motion. With low friction surfaces, the object won't accelerate but try to reach a constant speed. For example, around 2 months ago, my phone broke. I got it just 2 months before it broke and it was a black t-mobile my touch. It had a smooth plastic screen that I always use to keep shiny. This surface has a very low friction because it was so smooth and easy to slide on. After it broke and many cracks showed up, the surface gained friction due to the cracks causing little bumps in the surface.
