This picture is one I took of a CD. As I thought of what to put on my blog I saw it, picked it up, and started spinning it around my finger. That's when I thought, this actually applies to kinetics. The speed it was turning was around 5 spins per second. This means that the distance it can travel is about the circumference of 5 CDs (if rolled on the ground in a straight line). The velocity would be the same unless, I chose to rotate the CD in a the opposite direction. This would cancel out some of the displacement traveled (velocity is displacement per time), therefore having less velocity.

  1. this is such a smart connection! and so true! was it hard to count how many times it spun around your finger since the edge looks the same all the way around? haha
